The console

The current console was installed by Cavaillé-Coll at the same place as the one of Dupont, built in in the main case. It can be closed with two shutters and a removable top in order to protect the keyboards, all made out of wood.

Keyboards are wood-made with ivory-covered naturals, sharps are ebony. Their sides are rosewood-covered, the pedalboard has been replaced by Haerpfer-Erman in the 1960s.

Stops are arranged symmetrically on both sides and vertically ranked by keyboards, porcelain-covered and with a color-circle code for each keyboard. From bottom to top: pink for Positif stops, blue for Grand-orgue and Bombarde, yellow for Récit and green for Pédale. Stopsnames are written in black for labial pipes and red for reed pipes, including all the Bombarde’s.

Couplers and the Récit tremolo can be called with pedals located above the Pedal keyboard. The former Récit to Grand-Orgue 16’ coupler has been replaced by the current Plein-jeu stop of Récit. Récit expression is a pedal movement placed to the right-side of the Pedal, replacing the original “trigger” put by Cavaillé-Coll.

Finally, the former Sonnette du souffleur (bell-ringing stop indicating to the bellows operator to pump the air required for the organ to sound) still exists but now is used as the Positif’s tremblant. Two factice stops, initially set to preserve the console symmetry’s equilibrium, are still in place but one has been changed to become the Cornet stop of the Récit, explaining the yellow-circle intrusion in the middle of the Pedal stops.

The bench is oak-wood with a back.
